Alert
Bay is situated on beautiful Cormorant Island, just off the northern
tip of Vancouver Island on the west coast of British Columbia,
Canada. Alert Bay is a centre of Kwakwaka'wakw culture.
The
culture is not in the museums but is a living culture experienced
daily in the community. Traditional canoes on the beach, smoke
houses filled with salmon, artists carving, and the sharing of songs
and dances with the children of the Kwakwaka'wakw.
Our culture lives on in our Big House, in our art, and in the way we
greet and respect friends and visitors.
