Cedar
weaving
Cedar bark is sacred to our people. Donna Cranmer received the gift
of working with her hands continuing a family line of expert weavers
of regalia and baskets. Donna shares her experience as you craft your
own cedar bracelet. As you experience working with the cedar, Donna
shares her knowledge of the significance of cedar in 'Namgis
culture.

Traditional salmon barbeque
Savour mouth watering wild sockeye salmon you barbeque by an open
fire on the beachfront of the Culture Shock Gallery. Roy Cranmer, a
knowledgeable 'Namgis fisherman, will guide you in
preparing your salmon for barbequing in the traditional fashion.
Reward yourself with a culinary treat and a lasting memory of your
visit to Alert Bay.

Storytelling
Ada ("mother"), as Vera Newman is called by her
grandchildren, carries on the storytelling tradition of her
grandmother Axu Agnes Alfred. Vera shares with you the 'Namgis
history and legends passed down through the centuries. Blending
culture and story telling skills, she brings the stories to life for you.

Eco Tours
Enjoy a memorable journey across water and time as you paddle a
traditional ocean going canoe. K'odi Nelson, a cultural leader and
outdoor recreation guide shares local First Nation history and song
while you glide through our spectacular natural surroundings under
the watchful eye of bald eagles.
